Napa Temperature and PDO Plots

Here are the links to the tables of the correlation coefficient for temperature and albedo. The temperature values were taken from the Napa Hospital Coop record. The albedo was taken at the listed coordinates for Napa Hospital. The albedo was taken at 1600GMT and 0000GMT. Only days that had data for both were correlated. Following the same day correlations for Temperature and Albedo are leading and lagging correlations. The first correlations are the correlation of today's temperature with yesterday's albedo and the given time. The second set of correlations are today's temperature with tomorrow's albedo.

The plots below show the detrended data for hot and cold days in Napa and St Helena. The number of days in each year that were below the given threshold value, 0,4,26, and 37 degrees celsius were couted. The data was then detrended for the entrie period of record, and for 1950-2007. PDO is shown alongside the detrended counts in green. For cold days the jan-feb Bi-monthly mean for each year was used and for hot days the jul-aug bi-monthly mean. The correlation between PDO and counts is listed in the bottom left corner.

Below are the contingency tables for PDO and Tmin/Tmax data for years 1950-2007. The links contain data for Napa and St. Helena Coop stations for all seasons. To make these tables the median of the temperature time series, before and after detrending, was found and the data seperated into cold or warm years. For positive and negative pdo the amount of each of these temperature classifications is listed.
Contingency Tables:
Tmin Raw Data 1950-2007
Tmin Detrended_1950-2007
Tmax Raw Data 1950-2007
Tmax Detrended_1950-2007

The plots below show a time series from 1917-2007 and 1950-2007 of maximum and Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO) and of minimum temperature and PDO. The temperature was retrieved from cooperative stations St. Helena, red, and Napa Hospital, blue. PDO, green, was retrieved from http://jisao.washington.edu/pdo/. The time series is shown as a bi-monthly detrended average for each year of PDO and temperature. The detrended bi-monthly plots were only made when data was available for both months of each year. The correlation coefficient of temperature to PDO was calculated for available data and is displayed in each plot.
